STI's 5 in. x 5 in. x 1/8 in. SpecSeal® EP Powershield Electrical Box Insert is intended for use with electrical boxes in gypsum wallboard assemblies where fire and smoke protection are required. The insert uses intumescent technology that reacts to elevated temperatures, expanding to help seal gaps created when the electrical box or other components are exposed to fire. The material can be trimmed or configured as needed for compatible installations, making it practical for contractors working with standard electrical box layouts. EP55 is designed as a passive fire protection component and can help simplify firestop detailing around electrical boxes while maintaining the integrity of tested fire-rated wall systems.
